JOB PURPOSE
The ADMS system environment is a high-availability, complex network of servers, data, and security devices. It operationally supports a highly regulated area of the business and is mission critical.  This position provides advanced level technical support for microprocessor based industrial control systems, applications, and technologies in a Windows-based application server environment for LGE-KU Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).  The ADMS system is operated as one system that provides Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) for the company's Industrial Control assets in the delivery and management of electric power.  The position is responsible for ADMS System maintenance, support, troubleshooting, security and compliance with regulatory standards, project work, and 24 x 7 x 365 on-call support (including storm support).

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

• Performs all work activities with professionalism in a manner consistent with an accident-free workplace.
• System troubleshooting and support of ADMS systems that provide real-time monitoring and SCADA control of assets.  Participates in 24x7x365 support and on-call support including storms.  Provides both on-site and remote support, through responsible use of company provided computing, monitoring, alerting, and telephony tools.
• With direction, assists in ADMS technology evaluation and selection processes, ensuring compatibility between client requirements, technical performance, and compliance requirements.
• With direction, performs programming and database activities in a multi-cluster active-active (snap, clone, load) redundant database environment.  Has a basic understanding of network, security, operating system, patching, backup and recovery, and other technology skills relevant to the ADMS control system. Demonstrates continued development of technology skill sets.
  Assists with installation and maintenance activities related to ADMS system hardware and software. Assists in the development of standard procedures for compliance and security.
• Assist with monitoring ADMS servers, clients, applications, databases, and supporting infrastructure to identify and escalate performance, availability, and reliability issues. 
• Assist with collection and reporting of system health, availability, and capacity metrics. 
• Assist with execution of server, client, operating system, middleware, and application updates under direction of senior administrators. 
• Assist in maintaining operational procedures, technical documentation, support guides, and recovery documentation. 
• Assist in preparation of user communications, maintenance notifications, and technical training documentation. 
• Assists with performance monitoring, tuning and capacity planning for multi-user, multi-cluster, high-availability, and mission critical, Distribution Management systems.
• Stays up to date on Company and departmental procedures for operational and compliance requirements. Consistently applies and follows Company and department operational and compliance processes in delivery of service to client constituents.
• Meets deadlines for work tasks, documentation, status reports, expense reports, time entry, and other associated work tasks.
• Effectively communicates with clients, peers, departmental management, and vendors in business matters inclusive of those with technical content.  Competent technical and non-technical verbal and written communications.
• Performs reporting of metrics and key service indicators to management.
• All other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis is required.
• 1+ years - Has a basic understanding of network, security, operating systems, patching, backup and recovery, and other technology skills relevant to the ADMS control system.

*Position will be filled at the appropriate level comensurate to the candidate's education and experience.

 

ADMS Administrator II 

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis is required.
• 2+ years - Has a basic understanding of network, security, operating systems, patching, backup and recovery, and other technology skills relevant to the ADMS control system.

ADMS Administrator Senior

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis is required.
  
• 5+ years - Has a basic understanding of network, security, operating systems, patching, backup and recovery, and other technology skills relevant to the ADMS control system.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• A successful academic or work background indicating a demonstrated ability to absorb information, apply conceptual skills in practical applications, solve business and technology problems, achieve desired results in a highly technical, high availability, high visibility, and highly regulated, operating environment.  Industry certifications in programming, security, processes, databases, networking, operating systems, auditing, and/or compliance desirable.
