About the ALC
- The Brockton Adult Learning Center is a grant-funded educational program for adults. We offer classes for High School Equivalency (HSE) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) during morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. Our staff is comprised of 6 full-time and 36 part-time teachers. In addition to teaching, all full-time teachers are members of the Program Development Team, which assists the Coordinator in running the school.
Qualifications
- MA DESE license in ABE, Reading, ESL, or English
- Familiarity with MA CCRSAE & ELPS standards
- Prior experience in adult education preferred
- Proficiency in Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, or Portuguese strongly preferred
- Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
- Major Duties / Responsibilities
- Use the CCRSAE and ELPS to plan and deliver instruction to adult learners preparing to take the High School Equivalency exams
- Work collaboratively with other Program Development Team members
- Provide guidance and support to part-time teachers
- Advise students around career and educational goals
- Provide student support and referrals as appropriate for barriers to education
- Administer NRS Assessments
- Use LACES data management system to maintain student records
- Some evening hours required
