Title: Adult Career Center CDL Instructor Part-time as needed

Description: Teach the appropriate course of study by using a variety of instructional techniques that meet individual learning styles.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must hold a current and valid Ohio Class A CDL.
- Able to provide proof of operating license of a commercial motor vehicle for at least 3 years during the 10-year period, preceding the application.
- Have no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
- Possesses valid state department of education license/certificate appropriate for the position.(CDL instructor license)
- High school diploma or GED.
- Keeps current with technology and other workplace innovations that support job functions.
- Meets all mandated health requirements
- Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
- Provides documented evidence of a clear criminal record.

- Upholds board policies and follows administrative guidelines/procedures. Promotes a professional image of the career center. Encourages community partnerships that enhance career center programs.
- Promotes effective communications and assistance. Uses problem-solving techniques to tactfully address questions/concerns. Refers policy interpretation inquires to administrative staff.
- Assists in the recruitment of students.
- Conducts intake interviews with potential students of the program. Provides information to assist student their decision-making, including expectations and job opportunities. Serves as a resource for all student questions.
- Encourages students to consider a full range of career options.
- Provides counseling and training services that help displaced/disadvantaged workers overcome employment barriers.
- Supports an inclusive educational environment. Facilitates the participation of individuals with disabilities in appropriate activities.
- Communicates expectations and shows an active interest in participants' progress.
- Facilitates self-reliance, problem-solving, critical-thinking, creativity, and performance skills.
- Upholds the student conduct code. Implements effective pupil management procedures. Maintains a positive learning environment. Helps participants understand academic objectives, behavioral standards, and performance expectations.

- Reports suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities as required by law.
- Participates in staff meetings, conferences, and other required school activities.

- Pursues growth opportunities that enhance personal performance and advance career center goals.

Working Conditions:

- Balancing, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and standing.
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes.
- Exposure to air-borne particulates, chemical irritants, combustible materials, electrical hazards, equipment vibrations, noises, and odors. Exposure to wet and/or slippery surfaces.
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
- Interactions with aggressive, disruptive, and/or unruly individuals.
- Operating and/or riding in a vehicle.
- Lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies/equipment.
- Traveling to meetings and work assignments.
- Working in proximity to moving mechanical parts.
- Working on weekend/evening/and or summer is required.
Performance Evaluation:
Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Lorian County JVS Board of Education.
