SCHEDULE:
Part-Time, Hybrid; approximately 8 hours per week within the program's Monday-Thursday operating window; additional hours may be required based on program needs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience teaching or supporting English Language Learners (ELL) or adult learners, or willingness to learn adult education instructional practices
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology, including Google Workspace, video conferencing platforms, learning management systems, and digital productivity tools
- Ability to motivate, encourage, and effectively communicate with adult learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to maintain accurate student records and meet program reporting requirements
- Willingness to learn Adult Education instructional platforms, assessment tools, student
information systems, and testing software
- Understanding of student confidentiality and privacy laws
- Willingness to work evening hours as program needs require
Preferred
- Experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), English Language Learning (ELL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
- Familiarity with Indiana Adult Education standards and English language proficiency assessments, including TABE CLAS-E or similar assessments
- Experience using Essential Education, Google Classroom, Google Meet, Zoom, or comparable instructional technology
- Knowledge of adult education, workforce development, and community resources available to multilingual learners
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide engaging, standards-based instruction in English language acquisition, including reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary development, grammar, pronunciation, and
functional English needed for employment, postsecondary education, and community participation
- Deliver instruction that supports adult learners in achieving educational, workforce, and personal goals, including employment, postsecondary education, and citizenship preparation
- Develop and adapt lesson plans aligned with Indiana Adult Education standards and English language proficiency objectives
- Assess student progress using approved Adult Education assessments and instructional data
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment records, and required program documentation in accordance with Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) guidelines
- Assist with student orientation, intake, goal setting, educational planning, and transition services
- Encourage student persistence through regular communication, follow-up, and individualized support
- Collaborate with Adult Education staff, community partners, and support service agencies to promote student success and successful transitions
- Participate in required staff meetings, professional development, and program training
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that values cultural and linguistic diversity
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the administration
