Position Summary

The Adult Learner Engagement Coordinator will coordinate campus and community activities to build awareness and develop community relationships to recruit potential adult learners. The person in this position will represent Monroe County Community College at community events, in the community and ensure that the voices and needs of our adult learners are heard and reflected in college resources and activities. The Adult Learner Engagement Coordinator develops, implements and supports events and activities designed to cultivate a community of support, engaging potential adult learners within the target neighborhood and demographic. Under the supervision of the Director of Enrollment Management, the Adult Learner Engagement Coordinator is a collaborative services role focused on the on daily operation and implementation of community outreach, events and activities, and adult learner connection for identified current and prospective students.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides the essential adult learner student services by being knowledgeable about campus and community resources, navigating services and supporting adult learners both on and off campus.
  • Works collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Research to conduct appropriate community outreach and engagement for evaluation of area needs.
  • Advocates for the needs and interests of the adult learner population both on campus and within the community.
  • Develop and foster relationships within the community by overseeing student interns who will conduct in-person "knock-knock" visits to businesses and homes to share knowledge of programs, events and supportive services offered through Monroe County Community College.
  • Maintaining electronic enrollment notes for all students and using information in the CRM and within Microsoft Suite to support students appropriately.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with local agencies and community organizations, and support agencies, clearly and frequently communicate with them to update them, request support, and ask for input that is required of them.
  • Communicate with recruitment eligible students who have expressed interest in Monroe County Community College and GED opportunities through the Monroe Learning Bank, as well as assisting them with onboarding processes and referrals.
  • Manage referrals to the Momentum program through the online interest form.
  • Assists in ensuring the success of academic support across campus by referring academic concerns/barriers and connecting students to appropriate academic resources including tutoring, Disability Services, mental health services, emergency support, Writing Center, academic success coaches, and other program opportunities.
  • Assist with the implementation of the educational jail program by participating in meetings, events, site visits and organization of the overall program.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the supervisor.
  • Executes responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws and the College's policies, which includes the Code of Ethics.
  • Attendance at community events is expected during non-traditional business hours including some evenings and weekends.
  • Contributes to the overall success of Division of Student Success by performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of and skill in completing computer operations necessary for instruction and other College recognized forms of communication.
  • Knowledge of MCCC's vision, mission, and values and a commitment to further its educational goals and strategic plans.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of MCCC and skill in providing administrative support to such activities.
