    Job Description:

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Provide crisis intervention to SCS clients in rural and Louisville Metro locations. Clients may be both adults and youth.
    • Assess the situation, engage and develop rapport, and de-escalate.
    • De-escalate person in crisis and determine what you can do to help them today; this may occur in person in the community, at the individual's residence, etc.
    • In consultation with appropriate SCS staff/therapist, assist in development of a plan in consultation with appropriate SCS staff / therapist utilizing the strengths of the individual and available community resources to resolve the immediate crisis.
    • Provides advocacy services on behalf of clients.
    • Facilitate follow-up interventions with the individual as needed.
    • Complete and coordinate accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of all interventions transacted during the work shift. 
    • Perform other duties as assigned, including responding to emergency coverage needs.
    • Attend and participate in staff and team meetings.
    • Utilize person centered and trauma informed approach to each interaction.

    EDUCATION

    • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of four years’ experience in human services with a high school diploma or equivalent (and) active peer certification at time of hire, or
    • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Human Services, or related field of study with no experience.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of available community resources. 
    • Ability to make sound decisions and judgments in stressful or unusual situations. 
    • The ability to work in a team environment

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Position requires lifting of 20 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of items weighing up to 10 pounds or requires significant periods of walking or standing.  
    • Exposure to threat of bodily harm from clients or families.  
    • Normal tasks may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue.  
    • May involve 24-hour on-call responsibilities.   
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
    • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license with no more than 6 points.
