Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care. Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures. Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality. Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards. Assesses the patients physical condition and age-specific needs. Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results. Performs proper patient identification, acquires patients clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented. Positions patient equipment associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation. Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated. Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks. Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation. Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases. Assists in supervision of student sonographers and training of new sonographers. Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately. Ensures safety of all customers. Maintains reasonably regular punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation. Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment. Maintains well-stocked and organized work areas. May be required to work at any facility. Provides patient transport.

Qualifications

Education and Training:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Healthcare Provider certificate.
  • For Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography - Must maintain ARDMS physics registry and ARDMS OBGYN registry.
  • Prefer Sonographer also have the following three (3) NTQR certifications: • Cervical Length Education and Review (CLEAR) • Nuchal Translucency • Nasal Bone
  • For Pediatric Congenital Sonography - Must maintain registries that apply to the Pediatric Congenital Sonography position. • RDCS and/or RCS and/or RDMS.

Experience:

  • Experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine sonography with knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures, which may include invasive procedures such as amniocentesis, Chorionic Villus Sampling, Doppler 3D4D, and pediatric cardiac sonography.
  • OR Experience in Pediatric Congenital sonography with ability to perform routine advanced and fetal echocardiology exams, including but not limited to 2-D and M-Mode Echocardiography exams, Color Flow, and Spectral Doppler.
