Position Summary Department: Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute Position Type: Outpatient Location: Windemere Title: Nurse Practitioner, NP, APP, Advanced Practice Provider, Physician Assistant, PA, PAC Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is one of the region's largest orthopedic and sports medicine practices, providing comprehensive care for more than 250,000 patients each year. In August 2023, the institute opened Florida's first dedicated orthopedic hospital, featuring 75 private inpatient rooms, 10 operating suites with four virtually connected suites that can be used to train surgeons around the world, and a state-of-the-art research and innovation center with a 10-station bio skills lab and 3D printer. Click here to learn more about Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute Position Summary: Under the supervision of the physician, according to established practice guidelines and utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards, provides inpatient and outpatient management, consultations, and co-management of surgical patients. Responsibilities Manages patients with the highest degree of independence in provision of patient care services with minimal physician supervision and in a highly specialized area and across the continuum. Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, diagnostic studies and recognizes deviations from the normal. Develops a diagnosis and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to formulate and implements the treatment plan. Surgically close wounds, incision and drainage, debridement, dressing (the surgeon must remain in the immediate area). Scrub with collaborating surgeon in operating room. Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as credentialed, in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care. Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, admission and discharge care in accordance with evidence based medicine. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient care issues to foster significant improvement in patient care and outcomes. Dictates and documents in an accurate and timely manner. Performs patient education and maintains provision of preventive health services. Conducts or participates in multidisciplinary rounds. Participates in the department call rotation and/ or weekend/ holiday rounding as required. prescribe medication. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Acts as a role model and resource person for staff. Assists in teaching students, residents and interns in complex techniques and procedures. Participates in review and revision of policies and procedures. Establishes relationships with professional and other health-related groups within the community. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families. Licensure/Certification Nurse Practitioner APRN license in the state of Florida.
