    Position Summary Department: Ortho/Sports Medicine Practice Location: Ocoee Position Type: Outpatient Title: Advanced Practice Provider, APP, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, ARNP, NP, PA, PAC Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is one of the region's largest orthopedic and sports medicine practices, providing comprehensive care for more than 250,000 patients each year. In August 2023, the institute opened Florida's first dedicated orthopedic hospital, featuring 75 private inpatient rooms, 10 operating suites with four virtually connected suites that can be used to train surgeons around the world, and a state-of-the-art research and innovation center with a 10-station bio skills lab and 3D printer. In March 2023, a new medical pavilion opened adjacent to the hospital and houses outpatient clinics, an imaging suite, physical therapy spaces and the largest orthopedic ambulatory surgery center in Florida. Click here to learn more about Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute Position Summary: The Advance Practice Provider practices medicine under the direction of physicians and/or surgeons that helps with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatment and consultations with the highest degree of independence. Responsibilities Acts as advanced resource for specialty area or lead worker in clinic setting. Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care. Operates with the highest degree of independence in provision of patient care services with minimal physician supervision and generally in a highly specialized area. Assists in providing care for patients receiving radiation treatments; writes appropriate orders, including those for perioperative orders, narcotics, stimulants, and depressant drugs. Tasks will include: Performs detailed history and physical examinations and documents inpatient H & P, discharge summaries in the medical record (Must be reviewed and countersigned by supervising medical staff member within 24 hours and may not be substituted for physician H & P). Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate implementation of therapeutic plans, consistent with healthcare needs of the patient Reviews medical records of patients of the supervising medical staff member. Performs routine patient rounds to monitor and evaluate clinical status; reports change in status to supervising medical staff member for management (may not be substituted for physician rounds). Notifies attending physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation. Dispenses/prescribes medication as authorized by supervising medical staff member. Issues oral and written orders on behalf of the supervising medical staff member Writes or dictates reports and progress notes appropriately in the medical record Scrubs with supervising surgeon in operating room. Removes catheters, drains, sutures, and staples. Surgically closes wounds, incision and drainage, debridement, dressing (the surgeon must remain in the immediate area). Assists physician with special diagnostic procedures and follows the medical staff policies on supervision for the procedure Performs advanced cardiac life support. In a medical emergency, the Physician Assistant will act on behalf of the supervising medical staff member to maintain life support until a licensed physician arrives to manage the patient. Perform patient education. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Acts as a role model and resource person for staff. Participates in review and revision of policies and procedures. Demonstrates compliance with standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. Establishes relationships with professionals of other health-related groups within the community. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families. Participates in basic science and clinical research projects Qualifications Education/Training Nurse Practitioner MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing. Physician Assistant Graduate of accredited physician assistant program. Licensure/Certification Nurse Practitioner APRN license in the state of Florida. After July 1, 2006, licensure applicants are required to have national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board. Maintains current BLS certification. Physician Assistant Maintain current physician assistant licensure in State of Florida. Maintain current BLS/healthcare certification. Experience Three years of Advance Practice Provider experience

    Education/Training Nurse Practitioner MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing. Physician Assistant Graduate of accredited physician assistant program. Licensure/Certification Nurse Practitioner APRN license in the state of Florida. After July 1, 2006, licensure applicants are required to have national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board. Maintains current BLS certification.
