Description

The Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) is a leading group of over 1,800 physicians in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., exclusively caring for Kaiser Permanente patients. We invite applications for an Advance Urgent Care (AUC) Hospital Rounder – Nocturnist at our South Baltimore Medical Center.

Unlike other U.S. health systems, MAPMG is built and led by physicians who earn competitive salaries, without income based on providing individual services. Our medical group comprises board-certified physicians across 60+ specialties. MAPMG physicians use a comprehensive electronic health record (EHR) to coordinate care. Our focus is on long-term health, prevention, diagnosing, and treating diseases effectively. MAPMG researchers and staff support innovative ideas, ensuring quality care, educational programming, and advancing best practices through research.

What You Can Expect:

  • Covering night shifts (7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.) in the EMU ( extended care unit) part of advanced urgent care as an observational hospitalist
  • Provide overnight evaluation and management of patients in the EMU (extended monitoring unit) part of Advance Urgent Care (AUC) setting, utilizing evidence-based clinical pathways to determine the most appropriate level of care.
  • Assess patients for discharge, continued observation, hospital admission, or alternative care settings, including leveraging Advanced Care at Home (ACAH) and other post-acute resources when clinically appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with Emergency Medicine physicians, hospitalists, consultants, nursing, case management, and ancillary services to coordinate timely, high-quality patient care and disposition.
  • Facilitate efficient patient throughput by coordinating diagnostic testing, specialty consultations, and transitions of care while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and patient experience.
  • Work independently overnight while partnering with the Hospital Medicine and Emergency Department teams to ensure seamless continuity of care.
  • EMU has potential for 7 on 7 off rotation
  • 14 shifts a month
  • Potential to work at EMU in Lutherville-Timonium and South Baltimore Medical centers

Minimum Requirements:

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified or Eligible in Internal Medicine

MAPMG Physicians:

  • Practice patient-centered, culturally competent medical care
  • Communicate thoughtfully (listen, educate, advocate)

  • Go “above and beyond” for their patients

We Provide You:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Pathway for physicians to become shareholders of MAPMG
  • Comprehensive benefits including 100% employer-funded medical and dental insurance premiums, a pension plan and 401(k), life insurance, and paid leave
  • Complete professional liability coverage provided at no cost, 100% reimbursement for obtaining and maintaining board certification, continuing medical education reimbursement, and in-house CME opportunities
  • A concierge service that works directly with you to apply for all required state, CDS, and DEA licenses

The starting annual salary for this position is $280,000 which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary range above, MAPMG offers rich benefits that add substantial value to the total compensation package.

MAPMG continuously works to identify and mitigate healthcare inequities, and that starts with providing an inclusive, supportive environment for our physicians. We encourage applicants of any race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin who commit to practicing culturally competent healthcare.
