Primary Purpose:
Develop and review personal graduation plans and work with parents and students on gaining a better understanding of House Bill 5 Endorsements and graduation requirements; assist students in becoming college and career-ready.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree
Teacher Certification in English Language Arts and Reading 712 preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent communication & organization skills
Knowledge of House Bill 5 (implementation and impact)
Knowledge of the course sequence and prerequisites
Knowledge of college entrance requirements and pathways
Experience:
Experience at a high school or university, assisting students with transitioning from high school to college
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
? Field trips and other experiential activities.
? Provide post-high school, college, and career information
Meet with students on an as-needed basis to address school adjustment issues and assess student needs for additional intervention from school, home, or community services.
Support the development and implementation of campus mentoring programs.
Participate in and contribute to district and campus leadership teams, including:
? Campus administrative team.
? Counselor meetings and committees
Support campus programs and special events.
Contribute articles to campus publications regarding activities and services of the guidance and counseling program.
Provide staff development at campus and district levels, regarding HB 5, graduation requirements, and college and career awareness
Provide and/or support parenting education programs at campus and district levels.
Assist in coordinating other campus standardized and field-testing programs.
Participate in professional growth activities to maintain current counseling practices.
Administer standardized tests, interpret results, and maintain records as required by law.
Counsel individuals and groups of students with educational and career planning information when appropriate.
Counsel individuals and groups of students regarding needs and concerns and advise with parents, teachers, administrators, and other individuals when appropriate.
Remain current with the application of various technology systems and state and local updates as they apply to graduation requirements and college and career preparedness.
Serve as a liaison between the district, campuses, and community partners to support academic initiatives and student opportunities
Communicate program information to parents and community stakeholders as needed
Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and required documentation
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including a personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding, and use of the mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel

Other Information:
The District contributes $330 monthly toward the cost of the employee-only health insurance, which is $105 more than the state-required amount of $225/month. All employees in this position receive free treatment at any Next Level Urgent Care.

Salary: Teacher payscale with "0" years' experience begin at $68,164
