TheCompany's primary focus is to develop distributedpower generators that can operate on various fuelsources to future-proof against an ever-changingenergy economy.Job PurposeThe Advanced Engineer, Embedded Controls supports development and testing of generator systems, working as part of Hyliion's KARNO technology team. This position will work with hardware and software engineers to deliver embedded controls solutions.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign and integration of embedded systems software and hardware for controlling generator technologiesWork in a lab environment with hands-on systems integration supportTest and evaluation of new embedded control system features and functionsWorking with host PC interfaces for logging, viewing, analyzing, and summarizing data from embedded targetsParticipate in daily stand-ups and other team meetingsQualificationsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Qualifications include:Education, Experience and CertificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related disciplineMaster's degree focused on control/embedded systems engineering is preferred5+ years of experience in embedded control systems design and integrationExperience with embedded systems hardware and software integration including proficiency with controller design, real-time systems programming, using debuggers, logging and analyzing data, troubleshooting controllers, etc.Skills and AbilitiesSelf-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team and on own initiativeGood analytical troubleshooting skills with excellent technical, analytical, and communication skillsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new methods and processesControl systems design experience with sensor and actuator interfaces, dynamic systems modeling, control block diagrams, control algorithms, time and frequency domain modeling, and simulationsModel-based controls development experience using MATLAB/SimulinkProficiency with real-time systems analysis, design, implementation, and testingEmbedded systems software development experience in C programmingProficiency with maintaining code bases with source code configuration and controlExperience with data logging and analysis for performance and root cause analysis (including parsing, plotting, calculating summary metrics, etc.)Using lab instruments (meters, scopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, etc.) for embedded systems testing and debugging.Familiarity with electronics design including PCBAs, power supplies, filters, amplifiers, discrete I/Os, buffers, transceivers, connectors, etc. is a plusAuto-code generation in Simulink is a plusPython scripting and data analysis experience is a plusPower electronics knowledge and experience with electrical machines is a plusExperience with ARM Cortex-M based MCUs and development environments is a plusRole Classification and Working ConditionsThis is a salaried, exempt -level position.
