Position Overview
This role involves testing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a large healthcare facility. You will perform maintenance rounds, troubleshoot issues, and carry out general repairs with minimal supervision, ensuring a safe and efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment, adhering to unit-specific safety and infection control protocols.
- Independently repair and maintain various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment throughout the facility.
- Troubleshoot system problems and perform necessary repairs.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
- Manage and organize equipment technical manuals.
- Order and maintain inventory of equipment parts following organizational policies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
- Coordinate with external contractors as needed to support maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a large acute care setting preferred.
- Proficiency in all competencies required for an Engineering Mechanic II role.
- Strong performance in hospital service standards as demonstrated in recent evaluations.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and repair machinery and MEP systems.
- Physical capability to lift and perform manual tasks.
- Flexibility to handle a variety of changing duties.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver's license required.
- Preferred certifications include Certified Healthcare Mechanic, C-10, State General Electrician's License, or related construction/industrial trade licenses.
- EPA Refrigerant Transition & Recovery certification is a plus.
