Description The Opportunity: Skagit Valley College is accepting applications for associate faculty to teach for the Professional Technical Department for the 2026/2027 academic year. The purpose of posting this position is to build a pool of qualified instructors interested in teaching Advanced Manufacturing and Design classes. This Associate Faculty position will instruct students seeking their associates or bachelors degree in Advanced Manufacturing and Design.
Associate Faculty are essential to developing and delivering curriculum tailored to each course's specific needs. The program covers a wide range of topics, from hands-on technical training to management and leadership in manufacturing, using diverse instructional methods such as in-person classes and online asynchronous learning. The program spans industries such as sporting goods, agriculture, aerospace, and more.
As an Associate Faculty member, you will collaborate with department colleagues to create and implement innovative curriculum designed to prepare students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the manufacturing industry.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
• Woodworking • Injection Molding • Product Development • CNC Machining (wood, metals, plastics, etc.) • Composites • Mold Making and Design for various production methods • Industrial Automation, Robotics, and Mechatronics • Supply Chain Management • Operations Management • Project Management • Material Testing • Graphic Design and Packaging

Duties and Responsibilities Provide instruction in Advanced Manufacturing and Design through assigned course modalities; Deliver culturally relevant curriculum that reflects and supports student diversity; Promote equity and inclusion in the learning environment; Create a positive and engaging learning atmosphere using diverse teaching methods; Use inclusive strategies to enhance student success inside and outside the classroom; Develop and adapt curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students and the community; Provide course syllabi and outlines to students and relevant departments; Assess and document student performance and program outcomes; Contribute to program development, strategic planning, and outcome assessments; Fulfill faculty responsibilities per college policies and agreements; Participate in department and college-wide activities.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: • Five (5) years of practical, professional experience in a manufacturing-related field; • AND/ORA degree or formal training in manufacturing, engineering, industrial technology, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications: • Three (3) years of teaching experience at a post-secondary institution; • Fifteen (15) or more years of industry experience; • Degree or industry certifications in the field related to the subject being taught.
Salary, Benefits, Conditions of Employment, Application Procedure Salary and Benefits: The salary rate for part-time faculty is in accordance with the negotiated agreement and may be subject to change based on legislative mandates. In order to be eligible for benefits, state regulations must be met. Rate of Pay: Faculty compensation units (FCU) are computed by total hours (lecture, lab, clinical) identified on the approved course outline for a given course divided by eleven (11). Associate faculty pay is computed by multiplying the faculty compensation unit rate by the number of faculty compensation units. The current FCU rate for the 2025-2026 Academic Year at Step A is $1,084.00(includes I-732 COLA of 3.0% for 2025-26).
