ROLE SUMMARY

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer develops and deploys future-state manufacturing capabilities that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, capacity, and scalability. The role combines new product industrialization with advanced equipment and automation, emerging technology deployment, strategic facility layouts and moves, and major process transformation.

This position leads cross-functional initiatives from concept and business case through design, validation, implementation, and sustained production performance, partnering with Operations, Product Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, IT, EHS, Finance, and external suppliers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

New Product Integration & Industrialization: Lead manufacturing readiness, DFM input, process design, equipment/tooling requirements, validation, ramp-up, and production release.

Advanced Equipment, Automation & Technology: Identify, evaluate, justify, pilot, and deploy automation, advanced equipment, robotics, vision, sensing, digital tools, and emerging manufacturing technologies.

Capital & Strategic Project Leadership: Lead complex capital projects from business case and supplier selection through installation, commissioning, validation, and sustained results.

Facility Strategy, Capacity & Flow: Develop strategic layouts, equipment moves, capacity plans, manufacturing flows, and facility concepts that improve safety, material movement, space utilization, and scalability.

Process Excellence: Develop robust, mistake-proof, balanced, and validated manufacturing processes using lean methods, PFMEA, process controls, standard work, and data-driven problem solving.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

New Product Integration and Process Development

• Partner with product development teams to define manufacturing requirements, DFM expectations, process strategy, and launch readiness for new or significantly changed products.
• Design and implement production processes including flow, workstations, tooling, fixtures, line layout, material presentation, staffing, standard work, SWIP, takt/cycle time, and operator training.
• Lead PFMEA, qualification, validation, process controls, mistake-proofing, ramp-up, issue resolution, and formal handoff to Operations.

Advanced Manufacturing Technology and Automation

• Evaluate and deploy advanced equipment, automation, robotics, machine vision, sensing, data acquisition, additive manufacturing, and other emerging technologies applicable to the business.
• Develop technical concepts, requirements, feasibility studies, pilots, and business cases based on labor, quality, capacity, safety, reliability, space, lifecycle cost, and strategic value.
• Partner with Maintenance, IT, Controls, Quality, Operations, and suppliers to ensure new technology is safe, secure, maintainable, supportable, and effectively integrated.

Capital Projects, Facility Strategy and Capacity

• Lead capital projects from concept through implementation, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, vendor selection, FAT/SAT, installation, commissioning, validation, training, and production handoff.
• Develop current- and future-state facility layouts, capacity models, equipment moves, line relocations, expansions, and manufacturing footprint concepts that support growth and improve flow.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and external partners while communicating project status, risks, decisions, and recovery plans to stakeholders and leadership.

 

Manufacturing Excellence and Technical Leadership

• Apply lean manufacturing, structured problem solving, time studies, line balancing, capacity analysis, and process capability methods to improve productivity, quality, ergonomics, cost, and flow.
• Develop and improve manufacturing methods, tooling, fixtures, gauges, inspection methods, and equipment to mistake-proof processes and improve quality at the source.
• Provide technical leadership and coaching to project teams; document standards, validation records, training, and lessons learned to support repeatable deployment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Typically 7-10 years of progressive manufacturing engineering, industrialization, automation, capital-project, or related experience in a production environment.
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and validating manufacturing processes and capital equipment, with project ownership from concept/business case through sustained production results.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, DFM, lean methods, PFMEA/process controls, process capability, capacity analysis, takt/cycle time, line balancing, and structured problem solving.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives independently, manage multiple priorities, influence without formal authority, and communicate effectively from the production floor through senior leadership.
• Working proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD/layout tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent; ability to read equipment drawings, mechanical layouts, and related technical documentation.
• Ability to travel up to 10%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with automation, robotics, vision systems, controls, sensing, material handling, additive manufacturing, or semi/fully automated industrial equipment.
• Experience developing strategic facility layouts, equipment moves, line relocations, expansions, capacity plans, or manufacturing footprint strategies.
• Experience with regulated manufacturing, process validation, manufacturing documentation, and applicable worker safety/environmental requirements.
• PMP or equivalent project-management capability; Lean, Six Sigma, RedX, or equivalent structured problem-solving training/certification.
• Experience with manufacturing data and digital tools such as MES/ERP, Power BI, SQL, simulation, or related platforms.
• Demonstrated technical curiosity, business acumen, change leadership, and ability to build trust and collaboration across Operations, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, IT, and external partners.

$97,406.66 - $156,200.00
