Job Summary
As an Advanced Patient Care Technician, you will deliver high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to daily living and assisting the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), you will assist the nursing staff in providing one or more specialized patient care services.
You will assist patients with basic needs, personal hygiene, mobility and transportation
You will obtain and record patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data and vital signs
You will provide or assist with non-medicated support care, including non-sterile dressing changes, skin protection, application of heat or ice, and venous compression devices
You will perform hourly rounding and respond promptly to call lights and patient requests
You will obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests
You will prepare and maintains clean, hazard-free patient rooms and assist in the setup, removal, and cleaning of equipment
You will assist with patient preparation for surgery or other procedure
You will perform clerical work as needed, including assembling and maintaining charts, filing, answering and transferring phones, and relaying messages
You will perform one more of the following tasks under the direction of an RN: phlebotomy, telemetry monitoring, removal of indwelling catheters, removal of peripheral intraveinous lines, and/or enhanced skin/wound treatment
You will complete and adhere to enhanced Healthcare Acquired Infections training and enhanced skin/wound care training
Education & Experience
Completion of training and demonstration of competency in one or more specialized functions within scope
1+ years of experience in an acute care setting or as a military medic- preferred
CNA, LNA, or EMT Training Program, or Military Medic Training- preferred
Certifications
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date
