Job Description

SERV, an established leader in behavioral healthcare in New Jersey, supports people with mental illness and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities as they achieve greater independence and life satisfaction through a wide range of services.The “Partners in Wellness” Community Behavioral Health Center in Clifton, New Jersey, provides coordinated care for youth and adults in Passaic County and surrounding areas with behavioral health and physical health needs, taking into account the health of the whole person. We coordinate an individual’s behavioral health and physical health needs and collaborate with the individual and their loved ones to support their recovery.Our highly trained staff works in partnership with each individual, helping them develop and reach their recovery goals, build resilience for tomorrow's challenges, and enhance their quality of life.   Our diverse clinical team offers bilingual care, removing language and cultural barriers that can make it hard for some to seek care.Mental Health Services Include:
  • Psychiatry services for individuals 16 and older
  • Group therapy for adults ADAPT partial care day program for adults with severe mental health diagnosis
  • Peer Support
Substance Use Needs Services Include:
  • Medical Withdrawal Management
  • Medication to Support Recovery
  • Peer Support
  • Intensive Outpatient/ Outpatient Groups for substance use needs
  • Outpatient and early intervention treatment for substance use needs
  • Adolescent Substance Use Disorder Treatment
The Advanced Practice Nurse is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses in individuals enrolled in the substance use program.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • In the capacity of an independent contractor, the APN provides high-quality, person-centered compassionate care using evidence-based practices while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
  • Pursuant to an agreement with a collaborating physician, diagnoses and treats disorders and diseases of the mind;   performs psychiatric evaluations, performs diagnoses in accordance with accepted DSM-V and ASAM criteria, treats mental disorders in accordance with accepted principles of psychiatric/nursing practices
  • Provides daily medical supervision of withdrawal, including monitoring of withdrawal symptoms and vital signs
  • Supports the Medical Director in providing required outpatient detoxification services, in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Attends and participates in treatment team planning process, when required
  • Completes progress notes in compliance with SERV policy and regulatory requirements;  recommends and orders laboratory and other testing when indicated
  • Orders medications as necessary and provides education to clients on medication interactions and side effects
  • Provides education and consultation to multidisciplinary treatment team members.
  • Ensures timely and effective communication with clients, families, providers, advocates and other professionals involved in client care
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of current principles and practices of behavioral healthcare, substance use and mentally ill.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize competing demands and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and sound judgements 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Active professional liability/malpractice insurance (tail coverage required)
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited Nursing program
  • Completion of a graduate level 3-credit course in Pharmacology from an accredited institution approved by the Board of Nursing; or a pharmacology course of at least 45 hours integrated into the Master’s in Nursing program
  • Minimum two (2) years direct experience in the treatment of substance abusing and dependent individuals, including detoxification services
  • Bilingual in Spanish or knowledge of medical Spanish is a plus
  • Certification as an APN by the New Jersey Board of Nursing
  • Board Certification as a Psychiatric – Mental Health APN
  • New Jersey Controlled Dangerous Substance (NJ CDS) and Drug Enforcement Administration Controlled Dangerous Substance (DEA CDS) certificates.
WHAT WE OFFER:
  • $100.00 to $115.00 per hour (1099), based on experience.
