Overview

Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) established in 1971 offers a full continuum of evidence-based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey.

UBHCs 1060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education.

UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey.

Services are readily accessible and include inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach, and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention, and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school.

Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children, and child protective service workers.

In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support.

In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.

Posting Summary

Rutgers The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse for the University Behavioral Health Care.

The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse position is to serve as an expert in advanced nursing care. The APN functions collaboratively with the physician of protocol for prescriptive practice and works collaboratively within the treatment team to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and assessment services. The APN demonstrates competency according to the American Nurses Association Advanced Practice Standards and credentialing body.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Demonstrates a commitment to maintain the standard of clinical practice adapted by the American Nurses Association and ensures that nursing care meets the standards of practice for specialty credentialing certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or American Nurses Credentialing Center.
• Follows protocols for prescriptive practice.
• Delivers high-quality care as rated by supervisor, collaborating physician, and individuals served feedback.
• Consults with physicians, psychiatrists, and other clinical staff members as necessary.
• Coordinates care with Primary Care Provider.
• Provides advanced practice nursing care to individuals served presenting with acute problems, managing therapeutic regimes according to protocols.
• Assists in assuring individuals served have access to appropriate medication.

Salary Details

Minimum Salary: $172,557 Mid Range Salary: $145,178.00 Maximum Salary: $167,479.00 Offer Information

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Masters Degree in Nursing required.
• At least two (2) years of nursing experience required, preferably as an Advanced Practice Nurse.

Certifications/Licenses:

• Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
• Controlled Dangerous Substances Registration Number.
• Drug Enforcement Administration Registration Number.

• Must have prescriptive ability.
