Qualifications:
- Preferred at least 2 years of experience as an advanced practice provider in the outpatient setting. Gastroenterology experience is desired but not required.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Current national certification as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- Current state license and registration.
- Certified in BLS endorsed by the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine and urgent patient visits in a gastroenterology clinic setting, seeing both new and established patients.
- Perform history and physical examinations on new and return patients, establish presumptive diagnoses, and order appropriate laboratory studies and tests.
- Respond to nurse triage line tasks.
- Perform prior authorizations and write letters of medical necessity.
- Communicate effectively with patients and other care team members.
- Follow up on test results and communicate with patients.
- Provide necessary patient education.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Consult with supervising physicians or colleagues for complicated cases or those outside the scope of practice.
- Consider individuals’ cultural, psychological, social, and environmental factors in creating treatment and care plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
