Advanced Quality Engineer | Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $83,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced quality control plans for new and existing products.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventative action initiatives using 8D methodology.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects utilizing Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of process and product data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure quality is integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Facilitate failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and control plan development.
  • Manage and resolve complex supplier quality issues, including audits and performance monitoring.
Recommended Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding and application of statistical process control (SPC) and other quality methodologies (e.g., FMEA, Control Plans, MSA)
  • Proficient in problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Root Cause Analysis)
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality management systems
  • ASQ Certification (e.g., CQE, CSSBB) preferred
Bonus Qualifications
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Experience with AS9100 or IATF 16949 quality management systems
  • Strong data analysis skills, including Minitab or JMP proficiency
  • Familiarity with PPAP, APQP, and FMEA processes
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
