Description:
Are you the person everyone turns to when a new product needs to get through PPAP approval?

We're looking for an experienced Advanced Quality Engineer to take ownership of the complete Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new product launches and major customer programs. You'll work alongside Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure products are production-ready while developing the quality documentation and validation required for customer approval.

This is a hands-on Quality Engineering role focused on ensuring manufacturing processes are capable, validated, and ready for production. The ideal candidate will have experience owning PPAP submissions, developing quality documentation, and collaborating cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Supply Chain teams.

This contract assignment is expected to last 6+ months, with potential for extension or permanent employment based on business needs and performance.

What You'll Own
  • Lead the complete PPAP process from initial planning through customer approval.
  • Prepare and manage PPAP documentation, including:
    • Process Flow Diagrams
    • PFMEAs
    • Control Plans
    • Dimensional results
    • Capability studies
    • Customer submission packages
  • Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support new product introductions (NPI) and production readiness.
  • Coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Gage R&R studies, and Process Capability (Cpk) analysis.
  • Develop inspection methods, improve measurement processes, and recommend new gaging solutions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Support manufacturing process improvements through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to obtain material certifications, supplier documentation, and traceability records.
  • Work directly with internal teams and customers to resolve quality issues and achieve PPAP approval.

What Makes You a Strong Fit
You are a Quality Engineer who enjoys being hands-on, solving problems, and driving products from development into production. You have experience owning quality deliverables and understand what it takes to successfully launch a product.
You bring:
  • 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing PPAP and APQP activities.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • PFMEA
    • Control Plans
    • Process Flow Diagrams
    • MSA
    • Gage R&R
    • Cpk analysis
    • First Article Inspection (FAI)
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong mechanical inspection and manufacturing process knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while partnering with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Industry Experience
Candidates with experience in the following industries are encouraged to apply:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting new product launches or manufacturing transfers.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or other quality management systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.

Schedule & Compensation
  • Location: Lowell, MA
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (flexible)
  • Hours: Full-time preferred; candidates seeking 20 hours/week may be considered
  • Duration: 6+ month contract with potential for extension or permanent hire
  • Pay Rate: $40–$48/hour depending on experience
