Advanced Soldering and Rework Technician

PGS Worldwide is seeking an Advanced Soldering and Rework Technician in Oldsmar, FL for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Advanced Soldering and Rework Technician will perform complex soldering, component replacement, and circuit card assembly rework. This role requires advanced experience with surface-mount and through-hole components, microscopic inspection, mechanical assembly, and precision repair of high-density electronic assemblies.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 2–6 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of soldering and electronic assembly rework experience.
• Documented IPC-A-610 experience.
• IPC J-STD soldering experience.
• Experience using soldering irons, soldering stations, reflow ovens, and soldering machines.
• Advanced circuit card rework experience.
• Experience replacing BGA, QFN, leadless, fine-pitch, and high-density components.
• Through-hole and surface-mount soldering experience.
• Experience using microscopes to verify component placement and orientation.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Strong hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to pass the required medical examination.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet quality requirements.

Preferred Skills

• IPC-7711/7721 certification.
• Experience with automated optical inspection and automated X-ray inspection systems.
• Experience using X-ray inspection equipment.
• High-density connector repair experience.
• Experience developing electronic rework procedures.

What You’ll Do

• Perform advanced rework and repair of circuit card assemblies.
• Reball and replace BGA components.
• Rework QFN, leadless, fine-pitch, and high-density components.
• Replace through-hole and surface-mount components.
• Perform hand soldering and reflow soldering.
• Inspect and troubleshoot assemblies to identify defects.
• Use microscopes and inspection equipment to verify workmanship.
• Install stand-offs, spacers, and related mechanical hardware.
• Assemble and align complex mechanical components.
• Apply adhesives, epoxies, and bonding agents.
• Develop and implement rework procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Work Schedule / Shift

• Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM EST.
• 1st shift.
• Approximately 10 hours of overtime required per week.

Pay

• $20.00–$25.00 per hour
