Advisor for Student Success

Position Summary
The Advisor for Student Success supports the mission of the Student Success Center by fostering student achievement, persistence, and personal growth through proactive advising, intentional programming, collaborative campus partnerships, first-year student education, and coordinated student support initiatives. The Advisor will empower students to develop the skills, confidence, and connections needed to thrive academically, socially, and personally throughout their college experience.
The Student Success Center's goal is to ensure all students have the support needed to be as successful as possible while at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Advisors accomplish this by empowering students in three key areas:
Academics - Helping students create and implement academic plans, develop effective learning strategies, and utilize campus resources.
Engagement and Belonging - Encouraging participation in campus opportunities that foster meaningful relationships and a strong sense of community.
Self-Advocacy and Support Seeking - Guiding students to develop confidence in advocating for themselves and connecting with appropriate campus resources when needed.
The Advisor provides individualized student support, assists in designing and implementing student success programming, develops marketing and outreach initiatives, and collaborates with the Director to teach First-Year Experience (FYEX) courses that equip new students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful transition to college.
