    Are you committed to enhancing the Greek Life experience and fostering a supportive, thriving community? South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Advisor for Fraternity and Sorority Life. In this role, you will provide support and advisement to our Fraternity and Sorority Life community, contributing to the growth and success of our Greek Village and chapter houses.This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position located in Brookings, SD.

    The Department of Student Union & Activities is housed within the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. The division cultivates enrollment, student success and opportunity for all through innovative programs, intentional experiences, exceptional services, and premier facilities to enrich student development, promote wellbeing, and foster learning in a vibrant community.

    Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The purpose of this position is to provide support and advisement to the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) community as well as provide support to a growing and thriving Greek Village (i.e., chapter houses), meeting the increasing demand of students' needs in this area.

Relocation benefits are available per university's guidelines.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A Bachelor's degree by date of application.
    • Minimum of one year of experience with student programming at the University level, student experience will be considered.
    • Organizational and time management skills.
    • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
    • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree in Student Affairs, Education or closely related field.
    • Experience with event planning and promotion using various platforms.
    • Professional advising experience in student or academic affairs.
    • Experience working with chapter and national leadership.
    • Knowledge of or experience with leadership development training.
    • Involvement with new student orientation programs.
    • Experience with budget oversight.

    Typical business hours for Office of Student Activities & Orientation staff are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

    Program Advisor schedules may vary depending on student organization needs (e.g., meetings, events, etc.). Evening and weekend hours may be required depending on needs of programs and services offered to students in this area.

    Acceptable alternate scheduling is determined on an as-needed basis by supervisor with direct input from employee.
