Job Description
The Advisor is the key coordinator and drives the activities of the student and family support team. The Advisor supports a high touch approach to educational support and has superior customer service skills and a commitment and desire to provide the best experience possible for their students and families.

Certificates and Licenses: State of Ohio Paraprofessional Certification required

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Ohio resident preferred

  • Will consider applicants from a surrounding state to Ohio within one hundred miles from the Ohio border.

  • Border states include Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana.

  • Applicants must be able to meet travel requirements and be willing and able to obtain Ohio Certification.

The Advisor, Grades 6-12 is the key coordinator and drives the activities of the student and family support team. The Advisor supports a high touch approach to educational support and has superior customer service skills and a commitment and desire to provide the best experience possible for their students and families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees the entire on-boarding process for assigned students; Serves as a single point of contact after placement, ensuring students have all necessary equipment, and know how and when to access their courses;

  • Contacts late starting or missing students by phone and works to quickly on board them;

  • Plans and delivers online orientation sessions; Monitors student participation; Coordinates with

  • K12 for the delivery of monthly online parent training events;

  • Moderates homeroom/advisory activities and creates required collateral, e.g. PowerPoint decks, handouts, etc.;

  • Serves as a liaison between the student and other academic teachers and administration;

  • Completes "win back" calls for students wishing to withdraw;

  • Examines academic progress and activity of students on their caseload on a regular basis; Initiates recurring contact by phone with students and their families when students begin showing signs of failure/struggle as determined by grades, missed logins, course activity, and number of missing assignments; Arranges and moderates advisor/parent/student/teacher conferences as needed to address performance concerns; Assists students in creating a personal action plan;

  • Contacts every student on their caseload by phone for a regularly scheduled conference call; Answers all phone calls from students, staff and parents; Sends out daily and weekly blasts of important school-level information;

  • Assists with planning and implementing standardized testing;

  • Attends staff meetings; Attends and participates in school and K12 sponsored Professional

  • Development Events;

  • Assists in the development and updating of school policies and procedures via the student and parent handbooks.
