Position Summary
Salary: $40,000.00 to $46,000.00 based on ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule C-3 and experience.
This position coordinates the nursing and allied health advising program and serves as a resource for other advisors and students. The nursing and allied health advisor works with the faculty and advising staff to facilitate and provide consistent advising procedures for the nursing and allied health students and their respective programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with the Advising Coordinator in developing and implementing effective and consistent advising procedures, strategies and activities that assist nursing and allied health students in achieving their academic goals.
Serve on the Academic Advisory Committee.
Assist in coordinating and scheduling Advising Week.
Coordinate the access and flow of information from four-year colleges and universities academic transcripts.
Assist with telephone calls and correspondence to interested nursing and allied health students.
Maintain knowledge of current theories and practices in Academic Advising, specifically nursing and allied health practices and academic requirements and programs.
Maintain a collection of reference resources and assist students, faculty and staff in the use of these resources.
Compile information and files on applicants to the division programs such as applications, On-course audits, transcripts, etc. as requested.
Assist the Director of Articulation in planning and implementing training workshops for faculty and staff advisors.
Assist in coordinating the College's access to the STARS computer system.
Attend career fairs as needed.
Respond to inquiries regarding degree requirements, transferability of courses, and general advising.
Assist students during registration periods.
Interpret admissions, records, grading, and registration policies to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Confer with students regarding student records and academic policies.
Promote positive campus/community relations for the Advising Center and the College.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as Admissions, Records and Advising representative on committees as appointed.
Prepare and arrange for printing and mailing of printed materials for nursing and allied health programs.
Assist in maintaining up-to-date information about nursing and allied health programs on the college web site.
Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required.
Experience: One year of full-time related work experience preferred.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy.
