Job Description:
  • Oversees all make-ready engineering projects and crews.
  • Works with various power companies, Client staff, general contractors, and vendors on a regular basis.
  • Coordinates inspections, documents and maintains foundational trackers for each project based on project needs.
  • Provides quality assurance on projects while maintaining project schedules and budgets while providing continuous engineering solutions

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with the local utility companies and market leads to a strategy to accelerate client’s construction timelines. 
  • Specifically, work to accelerate aerial makeready applications and track applications through make ready engineering and construction to ensure alignment with client’s build plan.
  • Onboard strategic partners to augment the utility company’s capacity.
  • Perform virtual ride-outs with the local utilities to maximize one touch make-ready and minimize complex make-ready impact to timelines and costs.
  • Perform pre-construction field inspection to ensure completion of make-ready and existing aerial facilities owned by various power companies
  • Verify utility measurements on existing utility poles to prepare pole attachment applications for submission to governing utilities
  • Coordinate with various power and communications entities to devise a plan that will allow Client to construct facilities in a cost effective, efficient, and timely manner
  • Provide field information to the permitting offices to ensure permits and applications required for make ready and construction are filed accurately and timely
  • Provide regular project status reports to the Project and Construction Managers and Community Liaisons including daily and weekly status reports
  • Responsible for coordinating with others to ensure the completion of make-ready work of existing aerial facilities owned by various power, telephone, and CATV companies
  • Forecast material needs and budgets; track all invoices associated with the completion of the make-ready work; monitor cost controls for the company and client
  • Ensure make-ready invoices are accurate and work invoiced is complete, specifications are met, and the material usage is correct
  • Monitor schedules and timeline production noting possible delays and addressing those proactively
  • Ensure all easement and ROW permits received when poles fall outside of existing easement or ROW
  • Establish and maintain crucial relationships both internally within project teams and externally with vendors, power companies, and clients
  • Drive overall project goals, production, quality, and schedule with the MRE Team
  • Accurately forecast monthly Make Ready production and submissions and communicate any variances throughout the month
  • Plan, facilitate, and document meetings with Power company, internal make ready teams, and contractors
  • Escalate and report on obstacles and potential issues along with proposed solutions to senior and project management, construction teams, and clients as appropriate
  • Accurately coordinate, update, and maintain the Make Ready Resource and project data trackers at all times
  • Develop, train, and coach Client team leads, supervisors, and engineers
  • Communicate all changes to processes or general make ready approaches with the team and contractor
  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 5 plus years of telecommunication network experience required
  • Fundamental understanding of network architecture required; Experience working for an electric utility and/or with utility pole owners is preferred
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and extrapolate aerial and underground FTTH plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Must be able to analyze, comprehend, and present complex information in various forms
  • Knowledge of utility attachments, pole attachment agreements, ROW permitting, construction, quality control, and reading and interpreting construction prints required
  • Strong computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office & Google Suite applications.
  • ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Katapult, OCalc, SpidaCalc experience a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required
  • Ability to communicate and interpret technical information clearly, professionally, and effectively
  • Exceptional people skills to work with and motivate a diverse technical and operations group as well as to build confidence with multiple AEG clients
  • Positive, solutions-oriented self-starter with strong analytical, and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to completion in a fast-paced environment while ensuring attention to detail

Pay Range:$83,200 - $94,000 / Yearly

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role, as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
