    A day in the life

You start by reviewing the day’s work orders and engineering drawings, then prepare molds and materials for layup. Through the morning you place plies precisely, complete secondary bonding with epoxies and resins, and set up vacuum bagging. After cure, you move to precision trimming and cutting, verify hole locations from the drawing package, and drill to spec. Jigs, fixtures, and molds guide your assemblies while you keep your station orderly and safe. Quality checks punctuate each step—measuring, inspecting, and documenting any discrepancies. Throughout the day, you collaborate with engineers and quality inspectors to refine processes and ensure every aerospace component meets requirements.

    What you will do

    • Prepare tools and molds; perform composite layup per technical drawings and specifications.
    • Execute secondary bonding using epoxies and resins; set up and monitor vacuum bagging.
    • Trim and cut composite parts to precise dimensions for development and engineering targets.
    • Drill and countersink holes in composite assemblies using hand drills and related equipment.
    • Use jigs, fixtures, and molds to support repeatable, accurate assembly.
    • Handle materials, resins, and adhesives safely; maintain a clean, organized work area.
    • Conduct in‑process and final inspections; identify and record defects per procedure.
    • Partner with engineers, quality, and peers to drive continuous improvement.

    What you bring

    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
    • Knowledge of composite materials, resin systems, and adhesive applications.
    • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
    • High attention to detail and dexterity for small parts and fine work.
    • Comfort working in environments that require PPE.
    • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) required.
    • Technical/vocational training in composites or aerospace manufacturing preferred.
