    Job Description

    A day in this role

You arrive at the composites cell, review the latest engineering drawings, and prep molds for today’s build. You cut plies, stage materials, and perform precise layups that follow specifications down to the ply orientation. You complete secondary bonding with epoxies and resins, vacuum bag the assemblies, and prepare them for cure. Afterward, you trim, sand, and drill features to exact tolerances, inspect your work, and collaborate with engineers and quality to refine the process for the next iteration. That’s a typical day for our Aerospace Composites Fabrication Specialist—hands-on craftsmanship powering aerospace innovation.

    About Re:Build

Re:Build’s mission is to manufacture the next generation of critical products at scale in the United States. Our end-to-end platform partners with leading industrial innovators—across aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy and environment, and robotics and automation—to move ideas from concept through full-scale production. How we work matters as much as what we build, guided by The Re:Build Way principles.

    Core responsibilities

    • Composite layup: prepare molds, apply and place composite materials strictly per drawings and specifications.
    • Perform secondary bonding operations using appropriate resins and epoxies.
    • Execute vacuum bagging to ensure quality consolidation and cure.
    • Trim, cut, sand, and finish composite parts to meet development and engineering requirements.
    • Drill features using hand drills and related equipment, maintaining accuracy per engineering drawings.
    • Set up and use jigs, fixtures, and molds to support repeatable assembly.
    • Handle composite materials, resins, and adhesives safely; keep the workspace clean and organized.
    • Inspect assemblies and document nonconformances following established procedures.
    • Partner with engineers, quality, and peers to drive continuous improvement and consistent output.

    What you’ll bring

    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings.
    • Knowledge of composite materials, resin systems, and adhesive bonding.
    • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
    • Strong attention to detail and steady hand-eye coordination.
    • Manual dexterity for handling small parts and tools.
    • Comfort working in environments that require PPE.
    • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) required; technical or vocational training in composites or aerospace manufacturing preferred.

    Preferred proficiencies

    • Industrial & Commercial Painting
    • Composite Materials & Repair
