Aerospace & Defense Dimensional Inspection Specialist

A day in the life

  • Morning: Review work travelers and drawings, set up mechanical and visual inspections, and program/run CMM and FARO Arm checks. Verify features with micrometers, height stands, optical comparators, and thread/plug gauges.
  • Midday: Perform first-piece approvals, final product and assembly inspections, and incoming verifications of vendor-supplied items for compliance with purchase orders. Capture plating thickness and validate GD&T callouts.
  • Afternoon: Document results and produce formal inspection reports per company procedures. Flag non-conformances, notify production/assembly teams, follow through on corrective actions, and highlight quality trends for management attention. Recommend improvements to methods and equipment.
  • Always: Interface professionally with customer and government representatives. Keep your area clean, safe, and organized. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • CMM machines and programs

  • Micrometers, calipers, height stands
  • Optical comparators
  • Thread and plug gauges, gauge blocks
  • Plating thickness gauges

What you’ll bring

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent technical school training
  • Minimum 5 years of inspection experience with solid knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to operate Coordinate Measuring Machines
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills
  • Comfort managing multiple priorities at once
  • Problem-solving mindset and initiative
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
