Aerospace Electronics Test and Repair Technician

Pay: $20–$28/hour, based on experience

A day in this role

You start your day at the bench, reviewing test procedures and specification sheets. You’ll power up aerospace products—such as systems recorders, printers, and related replacement parts—run diagnostic tests, pinpoint faults on small electronic assemblies, and carry out precise component-level repairs. Throughout the day, you verify electrical performance, physical attributes, and overall quality, documenting results and collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and leadership to resolve issues and elevate standards. You’ll also help newer technicians learn proper inspection, troubleshooting, and testing methods.

Core responsibilities

• Execute functional tests and troubleshoot electronic products and components using defined procedures and specs.
• Diagnose issues on small electronic devices/assemblies and perform accurate repairs.
• Confirm products meet electrical, physical, and quality requirements before release.
• Inspect finished work to identify workmanship or quality concerns.
• Communicate improvement opportunities to supervisors and cross-functional partners (Manufacturing, Quality, R&D).
• Read and follow technical documentation, test methods, and specification sheets.
• Support the development of newer technicians by demonstrating proper inspection, troubleshooting, and testing practices.
• Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of consistent manufacturing experience in a hands-on role.
• Proven, hands-on electronics troubleshooting, testing, and repair background.
• Experience with small electrical/electronic devices or assemblies.
• Solid mechanical aptitude; comfortable with tools and test equipment.
• Able to interpret and follow technical instructions, procedures, and specs.
• Meticulous attention to detail with a strong quality focus.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Reliable work history showing stability and accountability.
• Self-directed while adhering to established processes.

Preferred background

• Experience as an electronic repair technician.
• Background in electronics testing or inspection.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of electronic devices.
• Quality control/quality inspection exposure.
• Manufacturing or production environment experience.

Physical requirements

• Frequent use of hands/fingers for tools, components, and controls.
• Ability to sit for extended periods; occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• Frequently lift/move up to 20 lbs; occasionally up to 40 lbs.
• Capability for close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
