Position Summary

We are hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve production for a well-established aerospace manufacturer in Carson, CA. This role is ideal for someone who understands aerospace manufacturing fundamentals but also brings progressive, modern ideas-process improvement, smarter work instructions, better tooling/fixtures, data-driven problem solving, and practical automation-while working within a traditional production environment focused on quality, safety, and compliance.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes for aerospace parts and assemblies (machining, assembly, sheet metal, or similar)
  • Create and maintain routers/travelers, work instructions, process specs, and standard work
  • Drive DFM/DFA collaboration with Engineering to improve manufacturability and reduce cost and cycle time
  • Lead continuous improvement projects (Lean, 5S, mistake-proofing, flow improvements, scrap reduction)
  • Support production floor troubleshooting: root cause, corrective action, and sustained fixes
  • Develop tooling/fixtures and coordinate with tool design/machine shop as needed
  • Support first article and production readiness: yields, capacity planning inputs, and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace quality requirements and company procedures (AS9100 environment)
  • Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Engineering to execute changes smoothly

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of recent aerospace manufacturing experience (required)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and shop floor execution in a regulated environment
  • Experience creating or improving work instructions, process flows, and production documentation
  • Proven ability to identify problems, prioritize actions, and communicate clearly with production teams and leadership
  • Hands-on, practical mindset-can work on the floor, observe, measure, and implement improvements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and comfort learning ERP/MRP systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Lean / Six Sigma tools (Kaizen, value stream mapping, PFMEA, control plans, SPC)
  • Experience with tooling/fixtures, time studies, and capacity/cycle-time optimization
  • Experience with AS9100 documentation, change control, and audit support
  • CAD familiarity (basic) for fixtures/layouts is a plus

What Success Looks Like

  • Reduced cycle time and rework through better processes and clearer instructions
  • Improved throughput and on-time delivery with fewer disruptions
  • Practical, measurable improvement initiatives adopted by the floor (not just 'theory')
  • Strong partnership across production, quality, and engineering

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive base salary (DOE) plus benefits package including medical/dental/vision, 401(k), PTO, paid holidays, and growth opportunities.

To Apply: Submit your resume highlighting your recent aerospace manufacturing experience and 2-3 examples of improvements you've implemented (cost, cycle time, quality, safety, or throughput).
