PGS Worldwide is seeking an Aerospace Manufacturing Technician in Hanover, MD for a 6-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Aerospace Manufacturing Technician will fabricate and assemble composite and metallic aerospace panels. This hands-on role includes honeycomb core preparation, adhesive bonding, insert and hardware installation, drilling, potting, rework, inspection support, and production troubleshooting.
Required Skills
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of honeycomb panel fabrication or aerospace mechanical assembly experience.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and process specifications.
• Experience using hand tools and powered machinery.
• Ability to process metals, composites, and wood.
• Good math and geometry skills.
• Ability to follow written manufacturing instructions and technical procedures.
• Ability to work closely with lead technicians, supervisors, engineers, and Quality personnel.
• Ability to meet production requirements and delivery schedules.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed.
Preferred Skills
• Previous honeycomb panel fabrication experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Adhesive-bonding or metal-bonding experience.
• Experience preparing and mixing epoxy and silicone adhesives.
• Experience installing mechanical and thermal components in honeycomb panels.
• Experience handling hazardous materials according to OSHA and industry standards.
• Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
What You’ll Do
• Prepare honeycomb core materials for aerospace panel fabrication.
• Mix and apply adhesives according to process specifications.
• Perform bonding, insert installation, edge closeout installation, hardware installation, and potting.
• Drill and rework composite and metallic panel assemblies.
• Fabricate flight hardware using engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions.
• Verify dimensional accuracy and workmanship requirements.
• Use hand tools and powered machinery to process metals, composites, and wood.
• Support equipment setup and calibration activities.
• Perform production rework and quality testing.
• Collect and evaluate manufacturing data and make process adjustments.
• Assist engineers with manufacturing experiments and process-development activities.
• Support inspection, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement.
Pay
• $29.75 per hour
