A day in this role

From the first toolpath to final prove-out, you orchestrate precision. You’ll program complex aerospace components across horizontal machining centers; 4‑ and 5‑axis lathes (including Y‑axis); and small-to-large vertical machining centers. On any given shift you might refine a macro on a HMC, optimize a subprogram for a CELOS‑controlled lathe, and then head to the floor to help a machinist upload the latest revision from the program library.

  • Create robust CNC programs capable of holding ultra‑tight tolerances on multi‑axis equipment.
  • Leverage macro, sub‑program, and variable programming on Horizontal Machining Centers.
  • Program for 4‑axis and 5‑axis lathes, Y‑axis lathes, and a wide range of VMCs.
  • Troubleshoot on the shop floor to resolve machining and programming issues quickly.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Kaizen activities (SMDE, VSM, 5S).
  • Maintain and control the CNC program library and revision status to meet NADCAP requirements.
  • Assist operators with program storage, upload, and download procedures.

About the position

You will own CNC programming for manufacturing equipment that directly influences Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost while ensuring adherence to AS9100 and NADCAP standards. You’ll collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering and production teams to achieve world‑class outcomes.

Classification: This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and is a Non-Exempt hourly technical position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or 5+ years in manufacturing/industrial technical roles with CNC programming experience (required).
  • 5+ years in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to extract and analyze critical data to inform decisions.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is a plus.
  • High proficiency with CAD/CAM (Esprit, SolidWorks, Mastercam), plus productivity tools (word processing, graphics, spreadsheets).
  • Expertise in G/M code editing, macro programming, multi‑axis functions, and Fanuc/Okuma/Mitsubishi CELOS controllers.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Self‑starter who thrives with minimal supervision; collaborative and able to influence without authority.
