Build mission‑critical hardware with GTC
Join GTC as a CNC Setup Machinist and craft precision components that power aerospace and defense programs. You’ll run multi‑axis milling and turning centers in a secure, climate‑controlled shop, upholding AS9100/ISO quality standards that define GTC’s reputation.
Location: Reading, OH (Cincinnati metro) | Citizenship: U.S. Citizens only
A day in the life
You’ll start by reviewing manufacturing process plans and blueprints, confirming routed instructions, and clarifying any verbal direction. From there, you’ll set up multi‑axis VMCs and lathes, tram machine heads, and configure workholding with vises, angle plates, V‑blocks, rotary tables, and super spacers. You’ll machine parts through milling, drilling, tapping, and reaming; make on‑the‑fly G‑ & M‑code edits at the control; verify features using dial calipers, thread gauges, indicators, and micrometers; then deburr and document each run to meet stringent AS9100/ISO requirements.
Core responsibilities
- Translate manufacturing plans, blueprints, and routed instructions into high‑quality parts
- Set up and operate multi‑axis CNC milling and turning equipment, including tramming heads
- Build robust workholding using vises, angle plates, V‑blocks, rotary tables, and super spacers
- Perform milling, drilling, tapping, and reaming operations to tight tolerances
- Edit G- & M‑code at the machine as needed to optimize outcomes
- Measure with dial calipers, thread gauges, indicators, and micrometers
- Deburr, complete production documentation, and comply with AS9100/ISO controls
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Two years of vocational training in machine trades or equivalent CNC shop experience (preferred)
- Fluent in reading technical blueprints and adjusting G‑ & M‑code at the control
