Job Description Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is currently accepting applications for Aerospace Structural Engineer positions to support the Structural and Thermal Systems Branch (STSB) at NASA Langley Research Center. Positions are expected to be onsite in Hampton, VA.Responsibilities Analytical modeling of structural and thermal systems including but not limited to static analysis, normal modes, random vibration, buckling, and nonlinear static analyses.Use of FEM packages such as Patran, FEMAP, NX, MSC Nastran.Document analysis, prepare technical reports and memos in Microsoft Word, create slide decks in PowerPoint, and present findings to internal NASA groups, designers, project leadership, and customers.Guide design and manufacturing teams and verify results through testing.Develop and maintain model-based systems engineering (MBSE) scripts, modeling workflows, optimization and sensitivity studies.Utilize Python programming or similar for scripting and data analysis.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Structural, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.Demonstrated experience with Patran, FEMAP, or similar engineering analysis software; ability to solve problems using NX or MSC Nastran.Hands‑on experience documenting reports and technical memos and presenting findings.Experience with Python programming or equivalent.Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.U.S. citizenship or permanent residence is required.Desired Experience Structural, Thermal and Optical Performance (STOP) analysis.Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and/or MBSE Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization (MDAO).Modeling from scratch or using CAD geometry, familiarity with PTC/CREO software.Advanced structural techniques such as nonlinear material behavior, fatigue, fracture, or optimization.Ability to use other software and programming capability to solve structural problems.Benefits Competitive salaries and substantial benefits package including paid personal and federally recognized holiday leave.Salary deferral into a 401(k)-matching plan with immediate vesting.Tuition reimbursement; short/long term disability plans; medical, dental, and vision insurance options.Equal Opportunity Employer AMA is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any applicant for employment or employee because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic prohibited under federal, state, or local laws.#J-18808-Ljbffr
