We are currently partnering with a regional bank in the New York City area (Hybrid) that is looking to add a Financial Crime Systems Data Analyst to its Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) organization.




This role sits within a second-line AFC function responsible for supporting the bank s BSA/AML and sanctions compliance technology environment. The position serves as a key subject matter expert for AFC data, working closely with Compliance, Technology, and external vendors to ensure the effectiveness, accuracy, and optimization of transaction monitoring and sanctions screening platforms.




The role focuses on analyzing system data feeds, developing reporting and analytics to evaluate system performance, identifying data quality issues, and supporting model tuning, calibration, and validation efforts. This opportunity offers strong visibility within the AFC program and the chance to contribute to ongoing system enhancements, data governance initiatives, and financial crime risk management efforts across the organization.




Responsibilities
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for BSA/AML and sanctions systems data, including upstream and downstream data feeds.
  • Support calibration, tuning, optimization, and performance analysis of transaction monitoring and screening systems.
  • Manage key data processes, including business requirements documentation, data mapping, and validation activities.
  • Develop recurring and ad hoc reporting to support AFC stakeholders and senior leadership decision-making.
  • Document end-to-end data flows, mappings, and system integrations from source to target environments.
  • Identify data quality issues, investigate root causes, and drive resolution efforts with relevant stakeholders.
  • Design and execute SQL queries to validate data feeds, confirm logical integrity, and detect anomalies or invalid values.
  • Support AFC system risk assessments, model validations, and data control reviews.
  • Coordinate responses to internal audits, regulatory examinations, and compliance reviews.
  • Track remediation efforts and maintain action plans related to AFC systems enhancements and control improvements.
  • Support system upgrades, data feed testing, rule validation, and model performance testing under the direction of AFC Systems leadership.
  • Contribute to process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across the AFC and BSA functions.

Qualifactions:
  • A bachelor s degree, preferably in computer science, information technology or a related field with experience in systems administration, analysis, report building and management, databases or other related experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with leading database solutions such as Oracle or MS SQL Server.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience developing scripts in Python.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the use of SQL queries.
