After Care Counselor

Congressional School seeks part-time After Care Counselors to join our Extended Hours Program (EHP) for the 2026-2027 school year. Our Extended Hours Program (EHP) Counselors offer safe, fun and educational childcare for our Preschool through 8th Grade students after school each day. The EHP Counselors also create a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment where each child is known and valued. Our EHP Counselors work Monday-Friday, 3:15 pm to 6:15 pm and report to the Auxiliary Programs Manager.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide a fun and safe aftercare experience for studentsPlan and implement activitiesActively supervise students by interacting with them through indoor and outdoor play to ensure the safety of each child and encourage their participation in activities.Help prepare and serve snacks, including sitting with children and assisting them as neededReport to assigned duties such as study hall, playground, and crosswalk in a timely mannerAlert proper personnel about hazards and general upkeepMeet and/or exceed all licensing standardsRecognize the individual needs of each child including medical and behavioral concernsMaintain strict confidentiality regarding children and their familiesActively support the School's vision, mission and core valuesReceive sixteen hours of Early Childhood Education training every 12 monthsOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or GED equivalentSix months of experience working with childrenAbility to lift or carry children weighing up to 25 pounds.Strong initiative and organizational skillsExcellent communication skillsAn ability to work in a joyful, collegial and collaborative environmentA sense of humor, warm personality, and growth mindset
