The After School Care Assistant Teacher will help support the day-to-day operations of the after-school program including activities, arts and crafts, games, educational programs, and homework.

Responsibilities:
  • Helps with the daily operations of the after-school program.
  • Assists with activities such as homework, games, arts and crafts, and educational programs.
  • Enforces all YMCA childcare rules and regulations and ensures safety in the facilities.
  • Greets new arrivals and introduces them to other children.
  • Reports camper complaints to leadership and helps to resolve the issues.
  • Supervises and interacts with children.
  • Assists in organization of age-appropriate activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. 

Qualifications:
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working with children preferred.
  • Must pass reference checks and background screenings, which include fingerprint check.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CPR/First Aid*
  • Must be willing to be trained in bussing

*Note: If not currently certified, must obtain certification within 30 days of hire. The * noted certification training programs are provided by the YMCA of the Pueblo.
