After School Counselor

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES: Offsite: Herricks, Centereach and Searing town School Districts The After School Counselor is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment where children feel supported and engaged. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Meet the individual needs of children by engaging with them through play, exploration, and learning opportunities · Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with parents, guardians, and fellow staff members · Foster a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment where children feel valued and supported · Assist in designing and maintaining an After School space that supports active supervision and meets the developmental needs of children · Support children in completing their schoolwork, and offering guidance and encouragement as needed · Communicate frequently with Site Director and Assistant Directors · Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times, following all JCC and OCFS safety guidelines · Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team planning and reflection · Complete the required number of annual training hours in accordance with New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations · Perform additional duties as assigned by the Site Director or program leadership Compensation details: 19-22 Hourly Wage PIb50075094afb-25448-382518065c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
