Principal Responsibilities:

Title:Youth & UPK Manager

Reports to:Early Childhood Director

Schedule:Monday-Friday, 10:00am-6:30pm

Status:Full-Timehourly, non-exempt

An exciting opportunity awaitsfor a full-time Youth & UPK Manager at the Binghamton JCC. This role bridges our Early Childhood and School Age programs, supporting children from UPK through age 12. We are seekinga dedicated, creative, and compassionate professional to lead engaging programs that foster learning, growth, and connection across age groups.

As a key member of the Youth & Family leadership team, the Youth & UPK Manager works collaboratively with other departments to ensure high-quality programming and strong operational support.

The successful candidate will oversee the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program and the Kids Connection school-age after school program. This includes supporting five UPK classrooms through the Binghamton and Vestal School Districts and providing leadership and oversight for Kids Connection.


Program Development & Coordination

  • Develop and coordinate youth programming, including after-school care and vacation/drop-in day programs
  • Plan and deliver enrichment classes for preschool and school-age children
  • Provide classroom support as needed (coverage, transitions, materials preparation, and child engagement)
  • Ensure compliance with OCFS regulations and site policies
  • Maintain accuratedocumentation (rosters, attendance, permission forms)
  • Manage program materials and supplies within the designated budget

Staff Support & Supervision

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of youth program staff and specialty instructors
  • Supervise after-school staff and ensure active engagement with children
  • Maintain staff files, clearances, and certifications in accordance withOCFS standards
  • Overseescheduling and staffing transitions as needed
  • Support and growspecialty programs such as LilTumblers and Lil Hoopsters

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  • Serve as liaison with the Binghamton and Vestal School Districts
  • Act as a resource to families, children, and staff through clear and positive communication
  • Collaborate with other members of the Early Childhood and Youth leadership team to
  • Support JCC-wide programs, holiday events, and school breaks
  • Foster an inclusive environment aligned with JCC and Early Childhood Center values
  • Transition to an open role in either early childhood or camp departments for the summerto support year-round position
  • Complete additionalduties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, child development, or a related field andat least two years of experience working with children under age 13, including one year in a supervisory role
  • Experience in a licensed childcare or youth program (OCFS familiarity preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills; creative, energetic, and flexible approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or willingness to obtain)
Salary:

$35,000 - $45,000

Since its inceptionin 1927, the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Binghamton, NY has grown to become an essential part of the Broome County community. As a full-service, non-profit organization, the JCC provides educational, cultural, recreational, and physical fitness programs to enhance the quality of life for all ages, from infants to senior citizens. The JCC's facility houses a natatorium with a 2250 sq. ft. pool, gymnasium, small fitness center, men's and women's health clubs, steam, sauna, a fitness loft with spin bikes and Pilates reformers, stage, auditorium, and more. Over 200 children are served daily at our award-winning Early Childhood Center. Our year-round educational childcare includes UPK, after-school program, summer camp, and youth sports offerings.

The 8-acre land also features outdoor tennis/pickleball and basketball courts, pavilion, nature preserve, soccer field, and three age-appropriate playground facilities.
