AFTERNOON SHIFT MANAGER (Automotive Warehousing & Distribution (U.S.)
 
Position Type: Direct Hire
Shift Start Time: Monday-Friday, 4:30pm-1:00am
Location: Taylor, MI
Salary: $80K-$100K
 
Position Summary
 
The Afternoon Shift Manager oversees all warehouse and distribution operations during the afternoon/evening shift. This role is responsible for achieving production targets, maintaining a safe work environment, and leading a team to meet customer requirements in a fast-paced automotive logistics setting.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Operations & Production
  • Manage all shift activities: receiving, warehousing, picking, packing, and shipping
  • Ensure production targets, KPIs, and customer delivery requirements are met
  • Allocate labor and resources to maximize efficiency and throughput
  • Coordinate with transportation and inventory teams for smooth material flow
 
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce all health and safety policies and procedures
  • Lead safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe equipment operation
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture
Team Leadership
  • Supervise, coach, and develop team leads and hourly staff
  • Manage attendance, performance, and disciplinary actions
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training
  • Foster accountability and a positive team environment
Quality & Customer Service
  • Ensure product quality and adherence to customer specifications
  • Address and resolve operational and quality issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting
Communication & Reporting
  • Provide daily shift reports (production, safety, staffing)
  • Ensure effective handoff and communication with other shifts
  • Escalate issues and risks as needed
Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of leadership experience in warehousing, logistics, or automotive supply chain
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control
  • Automotive/JIT experience preferred
  • Knowledge of workplace health & safety standards
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
