Essential Job Functions

Responsible for planning and implementing recreational activities for the after-school program.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Planning and leading sports, arts and crafts, and other specialized activities.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Engaging children in both indoor and outdoor activities.
• Supervising children on scheduled off-site field trips.
• Attending required staff meetings and program planning meetings.
• Maintaining all required credentials and completing training in accordance with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Office of Child Care requirements.

Position Hours

3:30 - 6:30 pm, Monday - Friday, everyday that MCPS is in session. 1:00 - 6:30 pm on MCPS Early Release Days.

Qualifications

Skills

• Knowledge of general activities appropriate for school-age children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
• Ability to complete a medical examination within 15 days of hire.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification may be required (training is provided at no cost, if needed).
• Valid Maryland drivers license preferred.

Experience

• Experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting.
• Knowledge of sports, games, and recreational programming, with the ability to implement activities effectively.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Coursework in Child Development or a related field is preferred
