    Description

    The position of Driver is of great significance to Valley Wide Cooperative. This position contributes to the success of the organization by ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of products, materials, and equipment to customers, Ag locations, and other designated destinations. Drivers serve as representatives of Valley Wide Cooperative and are expected to maintain a professional image while providing excellent customer service while adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements. This is a safety-sensitive position.

    A Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods using tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles requiring a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Drivers ensure timely deliveries to customers and Ag locations, comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, and maintain accurate transportation records. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and operational excellence while operating equipment in various road and weather conditions.

    Job Summary:

    These are the basic requirements of the position and must be performed competently.

    • Safely operate Class A CDL vehicles, including tractor-trailers, tankers, and other commercial equipment, in accordance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations.
    • Transport products, materials, and equipment to customers, Ag locations, and other designated destinations in a safe and timely manner.
    • Perform required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles and equipment are in safe operating condition.
    • Maintain accurate records, including driver logs, inspection reports, shipping documents, bills of lading, and delivery receipts.
    • Load, unload, and secure cargo as required to prevent damage and ensure safe transportation.
    • Adhere to all DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and Valley Wide Cooperative safety policies and procedures.
    • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, Ag location personnel, and management regarding delivery status, schedules, and operational concerns.
    • Provide professional and courteous customer service while representing Valley Wide Cooperative.
    • Monitor vehicle performance and promptly report accidents, traffic violations, equipment failures, maintenance needs, or safety concerns.
    • Assist with inventory transfers, product movement, and other transportation-related duties as assigned.
    • Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, promoting a professional image of Valley Wide Cooperative.

    ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES:

    • Class A CDL required.
    • Clean driving record with all applicable endorsements required experience with fast-paced delivery experience preferred.
    • Must have strong communication skills; ability to communicate in an appropriate, professional manner with managers, supervisors, employees, customers, vendors and the general public.
    • Must be able to make appropriate decisions and execute them according to policy.
    • Must have ability to determine order of need and task priority based on level of importance.
    • Must have a manager focus on all interactions and exhibit strong critical thinking/ problem solving skills.
    • Must exhibit a professional and positive image.
