Job Title: AGAS Production Technician ASU 
Job Location - Bloomington, TX
Duration - 12 Months

12 hour shifts, 48 hours / week. 

Job Summary

This position is responsible for operating a cryogenic Air Separation Unit (ASU). The production technician is tasked with maintaining plant production, operating efficiency, regulatory compliance, and safety.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

  • Operate the Air Separation Unit, perform daily rounds, and assist in truck loading.
  • Perform water sampling and testing.
  • Monitor and maintain the safe operation of an Air Separation Facility which produces cryogenic products.
  • Control flow purities, pressures, and processes using SCADA/HMI/PLC systems.
  • Work with management to maximize production and efficiency to meet customer needs, adjusting flows and production rates as necessary.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Perform quality assurance functions to maintain product quality.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records in accordance with safety, quality, regulatory, and production requirements, such as plant readings, plant maintenance, and instrument calibrations.
  • Identify potential problems from collected data.
  • Perform complex plant functions, including DERIME and warm plant start-ups.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, including compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, and electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate process and system problems to restore efficient operations, including PLC, DCS, and other computer interface stations; control valves, and pneumatic and electronic control equipment and instruments.
  • Take initiative to improve facility operations, reliability, and costs without direction.
  • Perform administrative functions, such as requisitioning, purchasing, production accounting, and payroll record-keeping (closure of POs and receiving/time inputting).

Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure 100% compliance with all client safety policies and procedures, and cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) training and techniques to prevent lost time or serious injury to others.
  • Maintain a high degree of safety by employing safe work habits.
  • Promote and develop safe work behaviors through existing policies and procedures and client safety behavior management techniques.
  • Assist with safety incident investigations, including near misses, using root cause analysis leading to recommended corrective actions to eliminate recurrences.
  • Ensure applicable regulatory (OSHA, EPA, DHS) requirements are met and applicable training and recordkeeping is performed to meet departmental and location requirements.

Quality / Technical Support

  • Perform maintenance of instrumentation, electrical systems, compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, and other plant equipment.
  • Comply with maintenance of environmental, safety, quality assurance, and FDA compliance systems and programs including spare parts, preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two years technical college or military technical experience, and 2 plus years of operating an Air Separation Plant or related industrial experience.
  • Critical thinking ability to work independently to troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve issues with process and plant equipment.
  • Requires the use of considerable judgment to recognize plant process problems and interpret malfunctions to make decisions accordingly.
  • Requires the ability to use common hand tools and test equipment necessary for repairing and replacing mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.
  • Water Treatment: Understanding of water treatment principles and equipment is a plus.
  • Refrigeration: Basic understanding of refrigeration systems is a plus.
  • Air Separation: Basic understanding of air separation and associated technologies is a plus.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to work overtime and off shifts when requested.
  • Must be able to share on-call responsibilities to facilitate uninterrupted plant operation.
  • Must have the ability to work alone, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires continuous mental and visual attention to operate equipment, make repairs, and adjustments.
