University of Maryland Extension (UME) is a statewide, non-formal education system within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
UME educational programs and problem-solving assistance are available to citizens and are based on the research and experience of land grant universities such as the University of Maryland, College Park.
In Maryland, UME employs approximately 200 faculty and approximately 200 support staff and contractual employees located at the University of Maryland, College Park; University of Maryland Eastern Shore; 23 counties; Baltimore City; and four research and education centers. Many UME faculty members located on the College Park and Eastern Shore campuses have joint appointments with research and academic programs. These joint appointments promote the exchange of knowledge between the universities and among academic specialties.
Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The University of Maryland Extension seeks a Watershed Restoration Educator to carry out an educational outreach program in Calvert and St. Mary's counties educating on watershed sciences and stormwater management. The Educator will perform a variety of duties and deliver educational activities including field days, fairs, meetings, field tours, workshops and seminars to a variety of stakeholders. Major responsibilities are listed below with an emphasis on providing support and assistance in implementing practices to help Calvert and St. Mary's Counties meet their MS4 permit requirements and Chesapeake Bay TMDL WIP goals. This Educator will serve as a member of UME's Watershed Protection and Restoration Program and in that capacity will work alongside team members in developing educational programming and materials, sharing efforts to lead and delegate these tasks as needed. General supervision will be provided by the Assistant Director/Program Leader for UME's Environment and Natural Resources Program and the Area Extension Director for Southern Maryland.

Additional Job Details
Location: This position is located off campus and alternates between the St. Mary's County Extension Office (Leonardtown, MD) and the Calvert County Extension Office (Prince Frederick, MD).
