Job Description: Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Adjust threshing settings of harvesters, down pressure of openers, and flow rates of sprayers; Cut cotton stalks; Refuel engine, lubricate machine parts, and monitor machine operations in the field to ensure optimum performance; Record information about crops such as pesticide use, yields, or costs; Direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting of crops; Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and primarily John Deere self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) such as sprayer, round module cotton picker and stripper, combine, grain cart, skid steer, backhoe, fork lift, tillage tool to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops such as wheat, cotton; Load inputs and drive trucks to transport to employers fields, load employers crops and drive trucks to transport to fields and storage facilities such as elevators, bins, silos, piles/bags in close proximity to the farm; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Regulate conditions; Maintain inventory; Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Anticipated Hours of work per week: 40 hours weekly. Schedule: Monday - Friday (8 hours). 7AM-3PM. Pay: $15.79 hourly. Paid weekly. Effective 1/1/24, overtime must be paid after 48 hours worked per week, or 56 hours worked per week for up to 22 "peak weeks" for highly seasonal employers, after 54 hours worked per week for non-highly seasonal employers, and after 56 hours worked per week for small employers.
