Summary

  • Responsible for maintaining par levels on all ultrasound related supplies - placing orders timely to ensure service is not interrupted or postponed.

Role Overview: The AHD Ultrasound Technologist performs Diagnostic Ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail and within established departmental policies and procedures. Identifies and reports to Radiology Manager changes in protocols, equipment and software upgrade needs, and all other budget impact changes. Ensures proper equipment maintenance and cleaning. Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  • Responsible for performing ultrasound examinations in accordance to established protocols. Coordinates ultrasound scheduling and work flow.
  • Provides patients with clear instructions and assistance before, during and after examinations. Exhibits excellent customer service and uses age-appropriate communication.
  • Coordinates equipment maintenance and cleaning to insure minimal, if any down time occurs.
  • Responsible for performance oversight of sonographers orienting to the section. Is patient, informative, and professional - leads by example.
  • Reviews and reports to the department manager all patient complaints, discrepancies and incidents relating to ultrasound examinations.
  • Responsible for processing images, organizing paperwork and completing charge sheets relating to ultrasound examinations.
  • Reviews, updates and validates policies and procedures pertaining to ultrasound examinations.
  • Prepares call schedule for ultrasound coverage; ensuring proper staffing at all times.
  • Participates in the implementation of patient care standards, infection control standards and quality assurance criteria.
  • Participates in department meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from accredited program in ultrasound/medical sonography. Minimum Experience: Will consider new graduate. Required Licenses/Certifications: ARDMS certification in OBGYN and/or Abdomen/Small Parts. ARDMS-eligible candidates may be considered in the case of a recent graduate, but with commitment to obtain ARDMS certification in at least one required specialty within six months of hire. Required Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - issued by AHA-American Heart Association.

Pay Range $72.29 - $91.58/hr

The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. Alameda Health System also offers eligible positions a generous comprehensive benefits program.
