Description:
Typical Day in the Role
•Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is to conduct robotics research focused on robotic foundation models, combining AI model development with real-world robotic applications.
•Key projects: This role will contribute to a robotics foundation model, including maintaining its open-source software and supporting customer deployment efforts.

Candidate Requirements
•Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain undergraduate or academic research experience in robotics labs, especially working with professors on robotics-related projects.

Job Description:
The main function of an AI Engineer- Robotics is to be responsible for creating, deploying, and maintaining AI and machine learning models. This specific role will be in support of Embodied AI and Robotics research.

Job Responsibilities:
• Fine-tune and improve a variety of sophisticated software implementation projects
• Architect, design and implement our test automation infrastructure.
• Develop training and evaluation pipelines using Azure Machine Learning
• Analyze and refine training datasets for robotic and AI applications
• Develop tools to provide fast deployment of Client algorithms in simulation and on hardware.
• Integrate robotic control and perception stacks with simulation frameworks

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
• 2-4 years' experience required
• A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
• Experience with using simulation environments or robotic hardware
• Experience performing in-depth troubleshooting and unit testing with both new and legacy production systems
• Experience in programming and experience with problem diagnosis and resolution
•Background in machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch

Explain a typical day in the role.
The role will consist of integrating simulation environments and benchmarking robotics models (~30–40%), training and evaluating models (~20%), and resolving technical issues such as debugging, patching, and supporting customer tickets (~50%).

How will contractor performance be measured?
Performance will be measured by impact on research objectives. This includes developing new features, performing evaluations, or creating documentation. We practice an agile task planning process where we collaboratively decide on the duration and priority of tasks that make progress and impact clear to both parties.

Top 3 Must-Have HARD Skills & years of experience for each
Minimum 2 years' experience with Python
Minimum 2 years' experience with PyTorch
Minimum 2 years' experience with ROS2

What is the ideal background of a candidate for this role?
A candidate familiar with training robotic models such as vision-language-action models, diffusion models, and reinforcement learning policies. In addition, familiarity with either simulation environments or robotic hardware is necessary for system integration.
