Description
AI/ML Engineer II
130,000 - 160,000
Remote / Flexible Full-Time
Our client is building an AI-native healthcare software platform that replaces legacy clinical, CRM, and back-office systems across a multi-company behavioral health group. The environment is HIPAA-regulated and handles PHI. We're hiring an AI/ML Engineer to build and ship production features across this platform under an established architecture and technical direction.
Responsibilities:
Build production features across the platform's AI orchestration layer, integrating multiple frontier model providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) behind a unified abstraction.
Implement LLM- and ML-powered workflows, including clinical documentation, audio transcription pipelines, and task automation.
Build and maintain data integrations that ingest from external clinical, billing, payroll, and clearinghouse systems.
Develop application features for the native EMR and CRM against a custom clinical data model, with FHIR used at integration boundaries.
Handle PHI responsibly: implement to HIPAA standards with auditability, access control, and security built in from the start.
Deploy, monitor, optimize, and maintain services in production.
Support parallel-run and shadow-mode validation against the legacy systems being replaced.
Work with the technical lead to turn architecture decisions into shipped, reliable software.
Qualifications:
Solid production software engineering experience at a mid level. You own implementation end to end, not just isolated tickets.
Strong Python. Working JavaScript/TypeScript for full-stack or frontend work.
Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar) into real production systems, not prototypes.
Experience building data pipelines and third-party API integrations.
Cloud experience (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP fine).
Comfortable shipping in a regulated environment. HIPAA/PHI experience is a strong plus.
Healthcare interoperability exposure (FHIR/HL7) is a plus.
Self-directed and ships reliably with limited oversight.
